The Barbados Secondary Schools’ Football League congratulates the 2016/2017 U-16 League Champion, the Pinehill St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School.

St Leonard’s Boys’ do the double in school football
The Richmond representatives defeated the Combermere School 2-1 at the Usain Bolt Complex, to retain the Barbados Secondary School Football League U16 championship.
This league triumph follows their Cup victory last week, over the same opponents and made St Leonards the double crown champions of this division for the second successive year.
St Leonards took the lead in the 24th minute when Raequan Jones shot beyond Combermere custodian Sharad McAllister.
Jones’ club mate and Combermere captain Andre Applewhaite tied the score in the 27th minute, when he headed in Nathan Skeete’s in-swinging corner from the left.
Into the break at 1-1, both teams vied courageously from the resumption, with the majority of the action occurring in the midfield.
St Leonards went ahead in the 50th minute, capitalizing on an error in the midfield by Combermere which led to a counter attack; Jones was released one-on-one with McAllister and the clinical marksman easily passed the ball past the advancing goalkeeper.
The goal seemed to have dented the morale of the Waterford boys, as they created very little opportunity to find that important equalizer.

The Knockout Cup
The Barbados Secondary Schools’ Football League congratulates the 2016/2017 U-16 Knockout Champion, the Pinehill St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School.
Gerneral information
Duration of play:
Games are of seventy (70) minutes duration, two thirty-five (35) minute halves
Match time:
Matches should start at 3:30 p.m., but no later than 3:45 p.m.
Substitutions:
Each team is permitted five (5) substitutions per match
Advancement:
The winning team at the end of regular time will advance to the next round. In the event of a draw, a penalty shoot-out will take place. Five penalties each and a sudden death if necessary. Five Minute halves of extra time will be played from the semi-final rounds onward.
Eligibility of players:
Players must be born on or after 1st January 2002
Deportment of teams:
All teams must be uniformly dressed (i.e. shirts, shorts and socks), as stipulated in Law 4 in the Laws of Association Football; shirts must carry separate and distinct numbers; players are allowed to wear personal protective equipment as long as it serves a medical purpose and is reported to the match official before the start of the match.
Postponements:
Postponements must be conveyed to The President or Secretary twenty-four (24) hours in advance unless in case of emergency. All postponed games MUST BE SANCTIONED BY THE LEAGUE EXECUTIVE.
Forfeitures:
All forfeited games must have the approval of The League, requests must be sent to the League twenty fours (24) hours in advance outlining the reason for forfeiture. In the event of a forfeiture, the opposing team will be awarded three goals and advances to the next round.

Graydon Sealy Secondary School’s Home Ground is Bay Primary Playing Field, Alexandra School’s Home Ground is Speighstown Playing Field, Queen’s College’s Home Ground is Bridgefield, Ellerslie Secondary School’s Home Ground is UWI Astro Turf and St. Winifred’s School’s Home Ground is Blenheim.

League Information
The League Cup
General information & rules
Duration of play:
Games are of seventy (70) minutes duration, two thirty-five (35) minute halves
Match time:
Matches should start at 3:30 p.m. latest
Points:
Three (3) points for a win, one (1) point for a draw and zero points (0) for a loss
Substitutions:
Each team is permitted five (5) substitutions per match
Eligibility of players:
Players must be born on or after 1st January 2002
Deportment of teams:
All teams must be uniformly dressed (i.e. shirts, shorts and socks), as stipulated in Law 4 in the Laws of Association Football; shirts must carry separate and distinct numbers; players are allowed to wear personal protective equipment as long as it serves a medical purpose and is reported to the match official before the start of the match.
Tournament format:
The tournament will be played in a league format, the team with the most points and the end of all games played will be declared the winner. In the event of a tie, winners will be decided on goal difference and a playoff if necessary. The winners of zone one and one two will face off to determine the League Cup winner.
Postponements:
Postponements must be conveyed to The President or Secretary twenty-four (24) hours in advance unless in case of emergency. All postponed games must be played on the Friday of the week in which they were scheduled, unless otherwise authorized by The League and MUST BE SANCTIONED BY THE LEAGUE.
Forfeitures:
All forfeited games must have the approval of The League, requests must be sent to the League twenty fours (24) hours in advance outlining the reason for forfeiture. In the event of a forfeiture, the opposing team will be awarded three points and three goals. Teams who forfeit two or more matches in the competition may face disciplinary action.
